I'm self-taught in animation using Macromedia Flash MX, Swish 2 and Swift 3D. I started drawing toons and comic books goes back to the fourth grade, mostly creating war comics patterning after a World War II comic, Sergeant Rock. Attended one semester class of art at a junior college, but only cared about sketching and toons. Never mind the grades! Everything else was forgotten. The work that got attention were political cartoons that lampooned every politician of the time.

During the 70s, cartooning went into very longterm hibernation while studying piano performance at a very small private music conservative in central Illinois. A degree in mathematics was earned in 1985, with additional studies in organic chemistry done in 1989, but the urge to cartoon started to reawake around the mid 90s.

Then in 1998 came the discovery of Flash animation on the Web which changed everything, perhaps forever.

A very understanding wife allowed the conversion of the basement den into an animation and music studio complete with keyboards, mixers, drawing desk, junk and a smart cat and a devoted miniature dachshund to help keep company. Creating animations plus learning new techniques and software consumes 5 to 6 hours a day while still doing work for the local police.

I've seen some really bizarre animation getting posted on a few websites and felt that some good old fashioned, family-friendly animation is needed. And that's what this site is geared for.

Flash work from Covenant Animation has been featured on websites such as www.jrnyquist.com, www.valdezlink.com, www.flashtoolbox.com and www.rightflix.com

In addition to web based animations, feature animation work is now being done for American Renaissance Films in Dallas
( www.afrfilmfestival.com ) for the September Film Festival.

More and more animations will be geared toward learning and games rather than just entertainment. Hopefully these types will be posted in a few more days!
